LIBRARY

The school library will be open for students to check out books. This is an opportunity for students to have easy access to literature and research materials. Students will need to turn in a library permission form signed by both the student and parent prior to checking out any library books and/or materials.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

All children need to maintain consistent attendance to ensure educational benefits are fully received. Those students with good attendance records are generally more successful than those students with poor attendance. When your child is absent, please contact our office at (619) 362-3200.

When leaving a message, we require the following information:

*Date of absence *Student's full name

*Parent/guardian *Reason for the absence

Please send a note the day prior if you know your child will be absent, or send a note with your child when he/she returns to school if the absence has not been cleared. We cannot accept a phone call from the student. A parent or responsible adult must clear all student absences.

If we do not receive verification of an absence within five (5) days, we will consider the student's absence UNEXCUSED and will document it as such.

COUNSELING SERVICES

We have a full time counselor on site that is available to speak with parents and students regarding any school issues or concerns regarding behavior, attendance, and peer conflict. If you need to see the counselor, please stop by the office to complete a 'Request to see the counselor' form.

Cesar Chavez Elementary focuses on CHARACTER COUNTS! And the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Each month classrooms nominate a fellow classmate who represents/models that specific trait of the month and is acknowledged at our Monthly Character Counts Assembly, rewarding our students for their good choices.

TOYS, GAMES, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Students are not allowed to bring toys to school or to the PrimeTime program as it is a distraction to learning and it often results in lost or broken toys. This includes trading cards, stuffed animals and dolls. We have sufficient items available at school for the children to play with for both outdoor and indoor recess. IPods, Game Boys, or any other electronic type entertainment devices are not permitted on school grounds. Theft or loss of such items will not be investigated by school personnel.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

Parents interested in volunteering must first complete an application and screening process. Please stop by the office for more information.

CELLULAR PHONE AND ELECTRONIC SIGNALING DEVICE POLICY

Devices that are brought to school and used inappropriately will be confiscated and taken to the office. The device will need to be picked up by the parent in person from the principal.

The school and district are not responsible for the theft or loss of cellular phones or other electronic devices. Theft or loss of such items will not be investigated by school personnel.

OVERALL EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENT BEHAVIOR

Students are expected to demonstrate positive behavior throughout the school day. In all settings on campus, students are expected to be Responsible, Respectful, Kind and Safe. Students must follow the expectations outlined in the document titled 'Expectations for Behavior on Campus

SEVERE BEHAVIORAL OFFENSES/ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY:

Serious offenses will result in suspension and possible expulsion or arrest. It is unlawful to bring real weapons of any kind to school. Lookalike weapons, toy weapons, and any object used as a weapon may also result in suspension.

  • Possessing, or distributing dangerous items such as matches, cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol
  • Threatening, attempting to cause, or causing injury
  • Using obscenities
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Vandalism, graffiti and theft
  • Possessing a knife, gun or other weapon including toy weapons
  • Bullying

Parents should monitor what their children take to school in their backpacks and pockets. Also, in accordance with school district procedures, parents will be held liable if their children vandalize school property.

BEFORE SCHOOL

California law requires that all children be under direct supervision of adults at all times. Arrive to school no earlier than 7:25 and no later than 7:40 a.m. Stay on the playground area in classroom lines until walked to class by the teacher. No walking around the buildings.

DISMISSAL

  • Gather all belongings before leaving.
  • Stay with the teacher and walk in line.
  • Go directly to PrimeTime or the front gate.

CAFETERIA AND LUNCH AREA EXPECTATIONS

*Walk to and from the playground

*Practice good table manners

*When you see trash, pick it up and place in trash can

*Remain seated until excused

*Do not go to classrooms for any reason

*Use inside talking voice (Level 0-2)

Candy, gum, soda, energy drinks, chips, and foods with hot chile are not allowed at school and will be confiscated.

RECESS/PLAYGROUND RESPONSIBILITIES

*Stop playing and squat when the bell rings

*Walk to the line when the whistle blows

*Play by school rules

*Wait your turn and be a good sport

*Pay attention as you move and play

*No running on blacktop areas or blue and red play structure

*Do not go to classrooms

*Go to restroom and wash hands

BIBLIOTECA

La biblioteca de la escuela estará abierta para que los alumnos puedan sacar libros. Esta es una oportunidad para que los alumnos tengan fácil acceso a literatura y materiales de investigación. Los alumnos tendrán que entregar un permiso firmado antes de sacar libros y materiales de la biblioteca.

ASISTENCIA ESCOLAR

Todos los alumnos necesitan asistir consistentemente para asegurarse de recibir todos los beneficios que la educación ofrece. Los alumnos con buena asistencia generalmente tienen más éxito que los alumnos que faltan a la escuela. Si su niño/a va a faltar a la escuela, por favor hable al (619) 362-3200.

Si va a dejar un mensaje necesitamos la siguiente información:

Si saben que sus hijos van a faltar, pueden mandar una nota cuando los niños regresen a la escuela. No se aceptarán llamadas de los alumnos. Un padre o adulto responsable debe aclarar todas las faltas de los alumnos.

Si no recibimos la verificación de la ausencia en cinco (5) días vamos a considerar la ausencia como INJUSTIFICADA y la documentaremos como tal.

SERVICIOS DE CONSEJERÍA

Tenemos una consejera de tiempo completo en la escuela que está disponible para hablar con los padres y alumnos acerca de asuntos escolares o de conducta, asistencia, y conflictos entre alumnos.

Si necesita ver a la consejera, por favor pase a la oficina para completar una forma para reservar una cita con la consejera.

Character counts

La escuela Cesar Chavez se enfoca en los seis pilares de carácter: Confiabilidad, Respeto, Responsabilidad, Imparcialidad, Bondad y Civismo. Cada mes se nomina a un compañero de clase que representa/modela el rasgo específico del mes y es reconocido en nuestra Asamblea, premiando a nuestros estudiantes por sus buenas opciones.

JUGUETES, JUEGOS, Y OTROS APARATOS ELECTRONICOS

No se permite que los alumnos traigan juguetes a la escuela o al programa de PrimeTime ya que es una distracción para el aprendizaje y suele suceder que estos se quiebren o se pierdan. Esto incluye tarjetas de intercambio, animales de peluche y muñecas. En la escuela hay suficientes artículos para que los alumnos jueguen tanto fuera como dentro del salón. En la escuela no se permiten IPods, Game Boys, o cualquier otro tipo de entretenimiento electrónico. La pérdida o robo de dichos artículos no será investigado por el personal escolar.

REGLAMENTO DE TELÉFONOS CELULARES Y OTROS ARTÍCULOS ELECTRÓNICOS

Los artículos electrónicos que sean utilizados de forma inapropiada serán confiscados y llevados a la oficina. Los padres deberán recogerlos personalmente con el director.

La escuela y el distrito no son responsables por el robo o la pérdida de teléfonos celulares u otros dispositivos electrónicos. El robo o la pérdida de tales artículos noserán investigados por el personal escolar

PADRES VOLUNTARIOS

Los padres interesados en ser voluntarios deben pasar a la oficina y llenar una aplicación y pasar por el proceso antes de poder estar de voluntario en los salones.

EXPECTATIVAS DEL COMPORTAMIENTO ESTUDIANTIL

Los estudiantes deben demostrar un comportamiento positivo durante todo el día escolar. En todas las áreas de la escuela, los estudiantes deben ser responsables,respetuosos, amables y seguros. Los estudiantes deben seguir las expectativas descritas en el documento titulado "Las expectativas de comportamiento en la escuela.

OFENSAS DE COMPORTAMIENTO SEVERAS/REGLAMENTO DE TOTAL INTOLERANCI

Delitos graves resultarán en la suspensión y posible expulsión o arresto. Es ilegal traer armas reales de ningún tipo a la escuela. Armas de juguete, y cualquier objeto que se utiliza como un arma también puede resultar en una suspensión.

  • Posesión o distribución de cosas peligrosas como, cerillos, cigarros, drogas, o alcohol
  • Amenazar, tratar de causar, o causar daño
  • Usar obscenidades
  • Vandalismo, grafiti, o robo
  • Posesión de un cuchillo, pistola, u otra arma incluyendo armas de juguete
  • Hostigamiento Sexual
  • Intimidación (Bullying)

Los padres deben controlar lo que sus niños traen a la escuela en sus mochilas y bolsas. Los padres serán responsables si sus hijos dañan propiedad escolar de acuerdo con los procedimientos del distrito escolar.

ANTES DEL DÍA ESCOLAR

La ley de California requiere que todos los alumnos estén bajo la supervisión directa de adultos en todo momento en la escuela. Los alumnos deben llegar a la escuela a las 7:25 am. Favor de mantenerse en el asfalto y dirigirse a su línea. No se permite caminar alrededor de los edificios y baños.

HORA DE SALIDA

  • Recoger todas sus pertenencias antes de ir a casa
  • Mantenerse con el maestro y caminar en línea
  • Ir directamente a PrimeTime o a la salida enfrente de la escuela

RESPONSABILIDADES EN EL COMEDOR Y LA CAFETERÍA

  • Caminar al patio de recreo y de regreso al salón
  • Practicar buenos modales en la mesa
  • Cuando vean basura, favor de recogerla y tirarla a la bote de basura
  • Mantenerse sentados hasta que sean despedidos
  • No hay permiso para pasar a los salones durante este tiempo
  • Usar sus voces normales para hablar (Nivel 0-2)

Los dulces, chicles, sodas, bebidas energéticas, papitas, y comidas que contengan chile no son permitidos en la escuela. Estos artículos serán confiscados.

RESPONSABILIDADES DEL ÁREA DE RECREO

  • Agacharse a una rodilla cuando suene la campana.
  • Caminen a su línea cuando oigan el silbato
  • Jueguen usando reglas de la escuela
  • Esperen su turno y sean buenos jugadores
  • Pongan atención al jugar
  • No corran en el área cerca de los juegos
  • No hay permiso para ir a los salones durante este tiempo
  • Favor de ir al baño y lavar sus manos
